Inclusive Communication and People with Disabilities Working Group
Scholarly research on practical initiatives and conceptual understandings on how to support people with disabilities (PwDs) is a timely and rich area of work within communication and media studies. The working group seeks to enhance such initiatives and understandings through inclusive international and interdisciplinary collaboration. This is in acknowledgement and support of the claim that human societies need to implement a social communication model of disability awareness, analysis and a broad understanding of disability as diversity.
Thus, the working group aims to establish a worldwide intellectual research space that can support and connect scholarly knowledge that enhances supportive and inclusive communities for PwDs through an improved understanding of communication. Our efforts encompass research, networking, and the exchange of insights generated by scholars, PwDs and other relevant stakeholders. By bringing together the knowledge on PwDs, we nurture research, activist discussions, and multi-faceted initiatives centred around disability and inclusion in communication.
