In 2024, elections were conducted for the leadership teams of 11 Sections and Working Groups. The voting period concluded on 14 May, and we are pleased to present the election results below. The elected officers will formally assume their positions at the General Assembly during the Christchurch conference.
We would like to thank all the candidates who demonstrated their interest in serving as officers for a section or working group, as well as to everyone who participated in the voting process.

Community Communication and Alternative Media Section
The Community Communication and Alternative Media Section currently has two co-chairs and two vice-chairs. One co-chair and one vice-chair positions were open for election.

- Andrew Ó Baoill (University of Galway, Ireland) received 62 votes (77%)
- Monerica Santiago Arnuco (Universidade Católica Portuguesa Faculdade de Ciências Humanas, Portugal) received 13 votes (16%)
- There were 6 abstentions (7%)
Andrew Ó Baoill is elected as co-chair of the section for the 2024 to 2028 period.
There were 2 candidates for 1 vice-chair position:
- Amparo Cadavid (School of Communications, UNIMINUTO, Colombia) received 54 votes (67%)
- Bing Ni (Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Portugal) received 16 votes (20%)
- There were 11 abstentions (13%)

Gender and Communication Section
The Gender and Communication Section currently has two co-chairs and two vice-chairs. One co-chair and one vice-chair positions were open for election.

- Gauri D Chakraborty ((Bennett University, India) received 25 votes (20%)
- Patricia Núñez Gómez (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain) received 65 votes (52%)
- There were 11 abstentions (9%)

Global Media Policy Working Group
The Global Media Policy Working Group currently has two co-chairs and two vice-chairs. They are changing the Head composition to one chair and one vice-chair. The chair position was open for election.

The International Communication Section currently has one chair and two vice-chairs. All three positions were open for election.

Islam and Media Working Group
The Islam and Media Working Group currently has one chair and two vice-chairs. All three positions were open for election.

The Music, Audio, Radio and Sound Working Group currently has two co-chairs. They are adding a vice-chair position. Two co-chair and one vice chair positions were open for election.

- Gondi Surender Dhanunjay (Central University of Tamil Nadu, India) received 10 votes (56%)*
- There were 8 abstentions (44%)
*the total number of votes received for Gondi Surender Dhanunjay is 18 because his candidate statement was received at a later stage. Since there were no other candidates for this position, the candidacy was accepted.

Participatory Communication Research Section
The Participatory Communication Research Section currently has two co-chairs and two vice-chairs. All positions were open for election.

- Jessica Noske-Turner (Loughborough University London UK) received 69 votes (63%)
- Lauren Dyll (University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) received 74 votes (68%)
- There were 7 abstentions (6%)
Jessica Noske-Turner and Lauren Dyll are elected as co-chairs of the section for the 2024 to 2028 period.
There were 2 candidates for 2 vice-chair positions:
- Aniruddha Jena (Indian Institute of Management Kashipur, India) received 76 votes (70%)
- Amit Verma (Manipal University Jaipur, Rajasthan, India) received 36 votes (33%)
- There were 22 abstentions (20%)

Visual Culture Working Group
The Visual Culture Working Group currently has one chair and one vice-chair. The vice-chair position was open for election.
