Comic Art Working Group
The Comic Art Working Group (COA) will be holding online elections for one Chair and two Vice-Chair positions, for the term 2021 - 2025.
The elections will be held online from 16 June until 14 September using the SurveyMonkey platform. Individual members and representatives of institutional members who are also registered as members of the COA working group are eligible to stand for a position and to vote.
Interested candidates must send their name, institutional position, a statement of no more than 500 words and a photograph to elections@iamcr.org with a copy to the COA Working Group’s current officers, Jorge Salvador Anaya Martínez (jorgeanayamartinez@hotmail.com) and Citlaly Aguilar Campos (citlaestrella@hotmail.com), no later than 16 May.
All candidates must be current members of IAMCR, and of the COA working group. To verify if you are a member of the COA working group, log in to your IAMCR account and select “My Sections and Working Groups” from the menu.

Doctor in Political and Social Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). Vice-coordinator of the Comic Art group (COA) since 2016. I have participated as part of the group since 2009. I have experience in research in Japanese Comics and Animation, participating in various research groups in Mexico. Professor at the Anáhuac University and at the Latina University. I am aplplying to the Chair position, in which I have collaborated as Vice-coordinator, to continue and reinforce the activities in which I supported to the former Coordinator. I am interested in the group generating additional mechanisms for linking and participation among members, through the tools to support extraordinary activities offered by the association through an annual publication of works or papers presented within the different conferences, in a memory or digital book.

Doctor en Ciencias Políticas y Sociales por la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Miembro de la Asociación Internacional de Estudios en Comunicación Social (AIECS). Vice-coordinador del grupo de Comic Art (COA) desde 2016. He participado como parte del grupo desde 2009. Tengo experiencia en investigación en Cómic y Animación Japonesa, participando en diversos grupos de investigación en México. Docente en las Universidad Anáhuac México y en la Universidad Latina Campus Roma. Deseo ocupar la Coordinación del grupo, en el que he colaborado como Vice-coordinador, para continuar y reforzar las actividades en que apoyé a la entonces Coordinadora. Me interesa que el grupo pueda generar mecanismos adicionales de vinculación y participación entre los miembros, a través de las herramientas de apoyo a actividades extraordinarias que ofrece la asociación a través de una publicación anual de trabajos o papers presentados dentro de las diferentes conferencias, en una memoria o libro digital.

My name is Laura Nallely Hernández Nieto, and I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Bibliographic Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Also, I am a member of the Latin American Graphic Narrative Researchers Network (RING). I have experience in comic research and the organization of academic events related to the field. I have been a member of the Comic Art Working Group since 2017, and I am running for the position of Chair. I believe that the comic research field must be brought into current discussions; for that reason, I propose creating institutional links and holding events related to this group to expand the incorporation of new members.

Laura Nallely Hernández Nieto, investigadora posdoctoral en el Instituto de Investigaciones Bibliográficas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), e integrante de la Red de Investigadoras e Investigadores de Narrativa Gráfica Latinoamericana (RING). Tengo experiencia en la investigación del cómic y la organización de eventos académicos relacionados con el campo. He sido miembro del Comic Art Working Group desde 2017 y este año me postulo para la posición de Chair. Creo que la investigación del cómic debe llevarse a las discusiones actuales; para esto, propongo generar vínculos institucionales y realizar otros eventos vinculados al grupo que amplíe la incorporación de nuevos miembros.

Hello, I am Citlaly Aguilar Campos, my line of research is Contemporary Art and Culture. I have a PhD, and I have been able to collaborate with the Aesthetic Research Institute in a postdoctoral stay.
I have participated in the Comic Art Working Group since 2015 at the IAMCR in Montreal, and from there, I was fascinated with the work they do in this section.
I am running as Vice-Chair in these 2021 elections, because I have an interest in continuing to actively collaborate with this group, and in this way, create fraternal ties with the entire community that has a passion for these topics of animation, comics, illustration and art.
My commitment is to comprehensively strengthen the Comic Art Working Group and continue the legacy of Drs John Lent and Geisa Fernandes, whose work over the years is an inspiration to be shared with many more people around the world.

Hola, soy Citlaly Aguilar Campos, mi línea de investigación es Arte y Cultura Contemporáneos. Tengo un doctorado y he podido colaborar con el Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas en una estancia posdoctoral.
He participado en el Comic Art Working Group desde el 2015 en la IAMCR en Quebec, y desde ahí, quedé fascinada con la labor que realizan en esta sección.
Me postulo como Vice-Chair en estas elecciones del 2021, debido a que tengo interés en seguir colaborando activamente con este grupo, y de esta forma, crear lazos fraternos con toda la comunidad que tiene pasión por estos temas de animación, cómic, ilustración y arte.
Mi compromiso es fortalecer de manera integral el Comic Art Working Group y continuar el legado de los doctores John Lent y Geisa Fernandes, cuyo trabajo realizado durante años es una inspiración que debe compartirse con muchas más personas alrededor del mundo.

Hi! I am Iván Facundo Rubinstein, professor at the School of Social and Political Science of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). I have a Communication degree from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina, and a Ph.D. in Social and Political Science from UNAM. I have been a member of the Comic Art Working Group since 2017, and I am also a member of the International Association for Semiotic Studies, the Argentinean Association of Semiotic, and the Global Alliance on Media and Gender. I am running for the position of Vice-Chair. If you elected me, I promise to strengthen institutional alliance to make the group bigger and organize academics events beyond the IAMCR annual conferences. In addition, I would do my best to ensure publications among the members of the COA. Thank you for your time!
