Overview
The Disability and Accessibility Taskforce is an Ad Hoc Committee established by the International Council of IAMCR.
It provides advice on disability inclusion, participation, and accessibility issues and initiatives in relation to:
- the organization of conferences
- the advancement of disability inclusion in IAMCR
- other key activities and functions in IAMCR
- leadership and support for the advancement of disability inclusion in the field of communications and media
Functions
- To ensure the organization of the Conference is as accessible and inclusive as possible to support full and equal participation of delegates with disabilities
- To provide advice to the Conference Committee, Conference Organizing Committee, Local Organizing Committee, Executive Board, and International Council on standards, best practices, emerging initiatives and developments, and innovations in relation to accessibility and inclusion in face-to-face as well as online Conferences;
- To provide advice on initiatives and measures to support researchers and other people with disabilities to participate in the Conference
- To provide advice on the state-of-play of disability inclusion and accessibility in IAMCR for researchers at all stages of careers, especially doctoral and emerging researchers
- To provide a sounding board for other IAMCR Committees, Task Forces, and Commissions, as well as Sections and Working Groups, on disability inclusion and accessibility matters, especially in relation to intersectional disabilities and links between disability and other areas of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- To keep a watching brief on indicators, figures, evaluations, and developments monitoring, benchmarking and evaluating disability inclusion and accessibility in the communications and media field
