Three projects prepared by IAMCR Sections and Working Group have been accepted for funding.
The Community Communication Section, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair on Community Media at the University of Hyderabad, was granted $2,000 for a pre-conference to the IAMCR conference in Hyderabad in 2014, as a dedicated space to discuss current issues and challenges of community, citizen, alternative and participatory media. Building Community – Shaping Change: The Role of Community, Citizen and Alternative Media in Regional Transformation will take place on 13 & 14 July.
The Political Economy Section received $1,950 for the project ‘Consolidation of Journal: The Political Economy of Communication’ aims to create the financial conditions to solidify and expand the newly created Journal of the Political Economy Section of the IAMCR.
The Global Media Policy Working Group and the Emerging Scholars' Network were awarded $2,000 to create a WSIS+10 thematic section within the Mapping Global Media Policy Database www.globalmediapolicy.net.
