EXTENDED DEADLINE: 15 FEBRUARY 2008!
The Gender and Communication Section of the International Association for Media and Communication Research announces its call for papers for the IAMCR Congress in Stockholm, Sweden (July 20-25, 2008). The conference theme for the 2008 Congress is "Media and Global Divides."
The Gender and Communication Section seeks research which balances theory and practice, and explores the relationship between gender and communication, both mediated and non-mediated. In addition, we welcome papers and panel proposals that examine gender and sexualities, and are interested in hosting a panel that represents the diversity of Gay/Lesbian Studies and Queer Theory. And, because gender is one way in which media divides manifest themselves the section Co-Chairs are particularly keen on papers and panels emphasizing the relationship between gender and/or sexualities and the conference theme, "Media and Global Divides."
As a policy, IAMCR does not permit multiple submission of identical abstracts to more than one section. Abstracts should be no more than 500 words, and bibliographies and author profiles are not required. However, please include: the name(s) of author(s) and professional title(s) (i.e. professor, postdoctoral fellow, graduate student, etc.); institutional affiliation; and e-mail address/contact information.
The deadline for abstract submissions is February 15, 2008, and notification of disposition will be made no later than March 31, 2008. Deadline for full papers is June 15, 2008.
Questions about submissions or suggestions for panels should be directed to Section Co-Chairs:
