The Community Communication and Alternative Media section collaborates with the Journal of Alternative & Community Media, an international journal publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research. Founded in 2016, the journal promotes the study of community communication and alternative media forms, which includes insights into social movement media, cyber activism, participatory video, community media, and other communication forms by and for the people. The journal has been closely connected to the section from the beginning, and is edited by a former section Vice-Chair, Susan Forde, and published by Intellect from 2020 onwards. The first four volumes of the journal -- from 2016-2019 -- are available as open access under the 'Content' tab here; and our special issue on 'Sustaining Community Radio' is also available as open access under the Content tab.
