The Visual Culture Working Group invites submissions for sessions at IAMCR 2013 Conference which will be held in Dublin, Ireland from 25th to 29th of June 2013. The main theme of this year’s IAMCR Conference is Crises, 'Creative Destruction' and the Global Power and Communication Orders.
Visual Culture Working group has been playing a leading role in discussing creative destruction of pre-existing power and order in the world communication system particularly from the perspective of non-Western alternatives. We have been involved in strong arguments on dynamic changes in visual art, cinema, visual media and new technology in Asia, Latin America and Africa in addition to changes in European and American visual media. Visual culture will be the main realm of searching for the force of creative destruction against contemporary power of media and communication. We welcome theoretical and practical research agenda related to visual culture. Particularly, we would like to encourage panel proposals in relation to the main theme of this year’s conference.
The prospective themes of Visual Culture Working Group sessions would be as follows though we would not exclude any other themes related to visual cultures.
- cultural studies of visual media,
- history of visual culture,
- new technology and visual media,
- sociological and anthropological research on visual communication,
- cinema studies,
- environmental issues of visual communication,
- methodological issues in visual communication.
