Nicole Stewart's strategic plan for 2022-2025
Nicole K. Stewart is an Assistant Professor (Social Media) in the Department of Communications at the University of the Fraser Valley and a PhD Candidate in the School of Communication at
(SFU), Canada.
Nicole’s research focuses on platforms, new media, and communication technologies. Her doctoral work explores how media platforms (content streaming, gaming, and social media) are domesticated by users in everyday life.
In 2021, Nicole taught the first higher education class on Clubhouse (see here), and in 2022, she taught an entire university course in virtual reality using Quest 2 head-mounted displays (see here and here). Nicole is also an executive board member for the Canadian Public Relations Society – Vancouver.
Before graduate school, Nicole was the principal of a public relations agency and founded a magazine that was featured in The New York Times for its innovation in the digital publishing scene. She has a Master of Arts in Communication from SFU, a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University, and an Advanced Diploma from The Art Institutes.
