The SVU Mini Conference was a three day event organised by Ahmed Orabi. It was held during the week of the main conference at the Faculty of Media and Communication Technology, South Valley University, Egypt.
On the first day, selected researches were presented from the Community Ethics and Communication Ethics Hub, with an outstanding science presentation by Dr. Nermin Al-Blue Nermeen Nabil Alazrak. Roundtable discussions then took place on the challenges of media practice in Egypt and future forwards. Read more and see photos here.
On the second day, papers selected from the Islam and Media and the Ethics of Society & Ethics of Communication Working Groups' programmes were presented, with journalists participating in the discussion for the second day in a row. The school's Dean, Helmy Mohassab gave detailed responses from methodological and theoretical perspectives. Read more and see photos here.
The final day of the conference featured discussions on 5 articles selected from the International Communication Section's programme. Receipents of the 2016 and 2018 IAMCR travel grants, Dr. Miral Sabry and Ahmed Orabi shared their inspiring experiences. The mini conference in its closing session chaired by Dr. Helmy Mahsab, Dean of the College, ended with a number of recommendations related to career ethics, content production patterns in the new media and how to consciously receive this content.
